Collection and return are working meetings, not quick formalities. Describe the Load Before Choosing a Size

State roughly what your cargo weighs, how much space it fills and whether anything needs strapping or keeping upright. Mention both loading and unloading sites, including tight approaches or limited parking. If a tail lift or a particular body type would ease heavy manual handling, raise it immediately, because such equipment comes on each firm's own terms and is not fitted everywhere.

Choose Hours the Day Can Truly Deliver

Your paid period covers only the hours the truck sits in your care. Travelling to collect it, paperwork, inspections, loading, the journey itself and unloading all fall outside that window, so build slack into both ends. Say plainly whether you want the vehicle for part of a day, a full day or longer, and flag any real chance of an extension while the enquiry is still open.

Sort the Driver Question Early

A licence that looks fine in a drawer may still fall short of what a larger vehicle demands, so ask the hire firm directly what entitlement the job requires. Check the licence has not lapsed and declare any endorsements or non-UK issue at the outset. Name anyone else likely to drive, because trucks are released only to drivers listed on the booking.
