Set Times You Can Keep

Fix two honest times: when the vehicle is genuinely required and when it can be returned. The paid period covers only the hours in your care, so paperwork, inspections and the journeys to and from the depot sit outside it. Flag any chance of an extra day early.

Treat Both Handovers as Appointments

Collection and return are appointments, not errands. Allow time for signatures, a joint inspection of the vehicle's condition, and fuel and deposit checks at the close. Request the firm's document checklist in writing and keep your schedule loose either side of both handovers.

Settle the Driver Question First

Confirm the nominated driver's licence before anything else. Licences carry different entitlements, and operators run their own checks, so ask the firm directly what the vehicle requires. Declare any endorsements or overseas issue at the enquiry stage, and name every likely additional driver.

Describe the Load and Both Sites

Describe the cargo truthfully: weight, volume, awkward shapes and any need for strapping or a tail lift. Look at parking and turning space at both ends, especially at an event site. Whether a specific truck is actually free on your dates will only become clear when the firm replies.
