Work out exactly when the truck needs to be on the road. A single Saturday morning is a different booking from a full weekend with an overnight hold, and the hire firm will price and plan them differently. Sketch your collection and return times on paper first, including any loading stopovers, so the reservation matches reality.

Ask About Charges and Cover Early

Cost questions are easier to raise before you sign anything. Find out what the daily rate includes, how mileage is counted, and what happens if you bring the truck back late or with a full tank missing. On the cover side, ask what protection sits behind the vehicle and what you would owe if something went wrong on your watch.

Let Your Load Choose the Truck

Be honest about what you are carrying. A few boxes and a wardrobe fit a smaller body; a three-seat sofa, white goods and a dozen boxes probably do not.
