Start by Planning the Return, Not the Collection

Fix your return time first and let everything else fall into place around it. If the van must be back by five, your loading window, driving time and unloading slot all shrink accordingly. Count Every Hour the Hire Will Actually Use

Underestimating is the classic mistake. Add the drive out, the loading, traffic delays, a lunch break and the drive back before settling on a duration. A morning booking that turns into a full day costs more than a day booked from the outset. Since vans are sometimes already taken on your preferred dates, build a little flexibility into your plan.

Make the Collection Handover Count

Arrive with time to spare. Walk around the van, photograph any marks, check the fuel level and confirm which fuel it takes, then test the lights and load restraints.
