Count Every Stage of the Day, Not Just the Miles

Suppose you collect at eight and plan to be unloaded by lunchtime. That works only if you have counted the loading, the drive, the unloading and the return journey as separate jobs. Add a buffer for each, then see whether the day still fits.

A sofa that measures 220 by 90 centimetres is a fact; a big-ish three-seater is not. Before choosing a van, measure the longest item, its diagonal, and the width of the doors it must pass through. The right size follows from the numbers, not from optimism.

Raise Access and Costs Early, While They Cost Nothing

Ask about parking at both ends, fuel and mileage terms before you sign anything, because questions raised early are free. If a particular size happens to be taken on your date, knowing that in advance gives you time to adjust the plan rather than improvise on the day.
