Ask About Money Before Anything Else

Request the full cost, not the headline figure. Does the quoted rate cover unlimited miles or a daily allowance? Is fuel expected back full? A family shifting a whole house might cover more distance than they assume, and mileage charges quietly change the maths. Get every figure in writing.

Fix Two Firm Appointments, Not One

The handover matters as much as the return. Walk around the truck with someone from the depot both times. Photograph dents. Note the fuel level. On a moving morning, delays snowball, so book a collection slot early enough to load in daylight and a return slot that leaves slack.

Let the Load Pick the Truck

Work backwards from your furniture. A corner sofa decides more than any brochure. Measure the big pieces, add the box count, then ask which vehicles fit that volume. Cab comfort is a footnote. If the mattress won't lie flat, everything else about the hire is irrelevant.
